  • Coeleen Kiebert

Coeleen Kiebert is an American sculptor renowned for her work in ceramics and bronze, with exhibitions across museums and galleries nationwide. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her academic pursuits reflect a deep interest in the psychology of the creative process and the influence of Asian philosophy on Western art.

Coeleen's "Art and Spirit" process is a structured approach designed to help individuals access and define their creative vocabulary, personal imagery, and artistic style. The process typically involves several key steps:

Collage Creation: Participants begin by assembling a collage from found images and words, allowing intuitive selection to guide them. This collage serves as a visual representation of their subconscious mind.

Mapping: The collage is analyzed using a conceptual grid that helps interpret the placement and significance of images, linking them to various aspects of the psyche, such as unconscious desires, fears, and aspirations.

Clay Sculpting: Based on insights from the collage, participants create clay sculptures embodying selected images, facilitating a tangible connection to their inner experiences.

Doodling: Engaging in free-form doodling allows individuals to explore their personal mark-making style, further uncovering elements of their unique creative expression.

Three-Dimensional Doodling: This involves creating abstract clay forms with eyes closed, encouraging a direct manifestation of subconscious imagery into physical form.
